The walkthrough

How the app actually works, step by step

Everything below matches what's on screen today. If something here ever looks different from your app, trust what you're looking at over this page — we'll be keeping this current, but the app comes first.

0 · Orientation

Before you start

Four things, all reachable from the main menu. Nothing nested three screens deep — this is the whole app.

  • GenerateAnswer a few questions, get an AI-written speech.
  • The DeskWrite your own speech from scratch — no AI required.
  • The LecternPractice delivering any speech, teleprompter-style.
  • Your WordsEverything you've made, generated speeches and Desk drafts together.
1 · Guided

Generating a speech

The fastest path from nothing to a finished draft — you answer questions, the app writes.

  1. Pick a category.

Eulogy, wedding toast, congratulations, thank-you, and a few others besides.

  2. Answer the form.

A handful of guided fields — the person's name, a few words that describe them, what they meant to the people around them, a favorite memory or story. These aren't essay prompts. Short, honest answers work fine.

  3. Purchase and generate.

Generating is a one-time purchase per speech, $12.99. If something goes wrong or the attempt is declined, you're not charged — you're sent back to fix your answers for free.

  4. Read your speech.

From the result screen you can save it to Your Words, ask for one of 3 free refinements (this is also where you'd fix something small like a wrong pronoun), or open it straight in The Lectern to start practicing.

2 · Your own words

Writing your own speech — The Desk

If you'd rather write it yourself, with or without AI polish later, The Desk is a free, blank writing space.

  1. Open The Desk from the main menu.

You'll land on a blank page with a title field and the body of your speech.

  2. Write, then save.

Save your draft when you're done for the session, or whenever you want to step away — from there, it's always waiting for you in Your Words.

  3. Practice it, or send it to Table Read.

Once saved, a Desk draft can be opened in The Lectern to practice delivering it, or sent to Table Read for an AI reshape.

3 · A second pass

Table Read — getting your own draft reshaped

Table Read takes a draft you wrote yourself in The Desk and has it reshaped — tightened, retoned, restructured — without ever inventing anything you didn't write.

  1. Open a saved Desk draft and choose Table Read.

Table Read only works on Desk drafts — a generated speech already comes with its own free refinements included.

  2. Describe what you want changed.

Tone (more serious, or more light), length (tighten or expand), plus a free-text field for anything specific.

  3. Purchase and get your reshape.

Table Read is $1.99 and includes 2 reshape passes.

  4. Choose what happens to the result.

You always get exactly one of three options, never a bare "Done" that could lose your work: save the draft back to The Desk for more editing, save it to Your Words as finished, or reshape again if a pass remains (report a problem once both are used).

4 · Out loud

Practicing delivery — The Lectern

A teleprompter-style practice screen for any speech, generated or self-written.

  1. Open a speech in The Lectern.

Either straight from a result screen, or later from Your Words.

  2. Set it up how you like.

Manual scroll pacing (drag to move through the text at your own pace), text size and a small set of color themes including a high-contrast option, and a timer — off, count-up, or countdown, which flashes red and buzzes once you hit zero. Pacing, themes, and the timer are free for everyone; there's also a one-time unlock that adds further practice options.

  3. Practice.

The control bar collapses while you're actively reading, so the text gets more room, and comes back the moment you pause.

5 · Everything, together

Your Words

Both AI-generated speeches and Desk drafts live here side by side, sorted by whatever you touched most recently. From here you can open, edit, delete, practice, or — for Desk drafts — send to Table Read.

6 · New phone, same app

Restoring purchases

Reinstalled the app, or switched devices? Tap Restore Purchases on the main menu.

Worth being precise about: this brings back paid unlocks, like The Lectern's extended practice options — not the text of speeches themselves. Those live in Your Words, on the device they were saved on. If you're moving to a new phone and want to keep a speech, save or copy it out before you switch.
